I think we can all agree that 2020 was a crazy year. Although we weren't able to go too far from home, I still got to explore some great places nearby. During this time I was able to truly appreciate our state and the many things vacationland has to offer outdoors. Here's a retrospect of some of my favorite things I got to do during this year, in no particular order.
York
My Dad and I enjoyed our summer vacation somewhere new this year for the Fourth of July. We stayed at Long Sands Beach in York, Maine. We went swimming, biking, and spent a lot of time outdoors grilling. Read the full post here.
Boothbay
This year we finally made a visit to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens located in Boothbay. After the gardens, we explored the coastal town of Boothbay Harbor for lunch, and of course, I got myself a lobster roll! Read the full post here.
Acadia National Park
During the early pandemic days, we ventured out to Acadia National Park to enjoy the outdoors. We biked, hiked, enjoyed the sunset on Cadillac Mountain, and ate popovers outside at the Jordan Pond House. Read the full post here.
Popham Beach
In the summer, I went on a girl's trip to Popham beach. We laid on the beach all day, ate a yummy meal outside next to the water (I had lobster mac & cheese), and spent the night at an Air BnB.
Mid-Coast Maine
This year my husband and I celebrated our anniversary with a weekend trip to Owls Head, Rockland, and Camden. Some of our highlights were eating pizza at the Camden Harbor, climbing up Mt. Battie, and exploring Owls Head State Park.
It was so much fun and I cannot wait to return next summer! Read the full post here.
Bethel
To celebrate the end of summer we made the trek to Bethel to hike the Table Rock Loop trail at Grafton Notch State Park. I really enjoyed this hike and would like to return again sometime in the fall! Read the full post here.
White Mountains - New Hampshire
Although the White Mountains are not in Maine, it's just a short drive away and is one of the places you want to visit in the fall. We hiked on the Arethusa Falls trail in Crawford Notch State Park and I got some of my best pictures of the year. The foliage was in full effect!
Portland - My own city!
Grabbing a latte and taking walks around the city still remains one of my favorite activities.
Thanks for reading. Happy New Year!
