A Pleasant Day in Boothbay

Discovering Boothbay: Gardens, Harbor, and More

As the end of summer draws near, my husband and I seized the chance to explore the enchanting Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens situated on the picturesque Boothbay peninsula. Our adventure also led us to the charming coastal town of Boothbay Harbor, where we savored a delicious lunch.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is a stunning oasis in Mid-Coast Maine, perfect for nature lovers and garden enthusiasts. The gardens are full of vibrant flower displays and themed sections that offer something new with each visit.

In addition to the floral beauty, you can explore miles of waterfront and woodland trails, offering a peaceful escape into nature. With so much to see and do, you'll find yourself wandering for hours, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

The Gardens are open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, from April 15 to October 31, making it an ideal destination for a day trip during Maine's warmer months.

Boothbay Harbor

Boothbay Harbor is brimming with charming shops, restaurants, and cozy accommodations. A scenic footbridge links the east and west sides of the harbor, making it easy to explore both areas on foot. After spotting numerous daily boat excursions, we're already planning a return visit for a boat tour or a kayak trip around the harbor.

Shannon's Unshelled

For lunch, I ordered a lobster roll and an order of onion rings from Shannon's Unshelled, a seaside lobster shack with picnic table seating. I was very impressed to see not one, but TWO lobster tails in my roll and a pretty edible orchid making it picture-perfect.
